Insert Affiliate alternative for apps that invite their own creators
Insert Affiliate and Tap App Link both track which creators drive installs and in-app purchases, and both work with RevenueCat. They price differently. Insert Affiliate offers a revenue-share plan or a fixed-price plan, with an affiliate cap on each tier. Tap App Link charges one flat monthly price, takes no percentage of your revenue and allows unlimited creators on Pro and Scale.
This page is for founders choosing a creator affiliate tool before they launch. It compares plans, limits, costs and features as of October 2026, and says where Insert Affiliate is the better fit. If you already run a program on Insert Affiliate, the switching section near the end explains what moving involves.

What you pay as affiliate revenue grows
Tap App Link costs the same every month: US$29 on Pro or US$59 on Scale, whatever your creators bring in. On Insert Affiliate's Revenue Share plans, every US$1,000 of gross affiliate revenue adds US$100 on Starter, US$80 on Growth or US$75 on Enterprise to the monthly fee.
Insert Affiliate's revenue share billing docs say the percentage is charged on the gross transaction price, before Apple, Google or Stripe fees. It applies to initial purchases and to every renewal for the life of the subscription, with no upper limit, even if you cap or time-limit the affiliate's own commission on renewals.
The table shows the platform fee only, per month. It leaves out the commission you pay creators (you set that rate with either tool), payment processing fees and your billing provider's fees. Insert Affiliate's base fees are in GBP, so we converted them at £1 = US$1.32 (European Central Bank reference rate, 7 October 2026). The US dollar totals are approximate.

How we worked it out. Take Growth at US$5,000 of gross affiliate revenue. The base fee is £70 × 1.32 = US$92.40. The revenue share is 8% × US$5,000 = US$400. The total is about US$492 a month. Tap App Link Pro stays at US$29.
Two things to weigh. Starter allows 5 affiliates and Growth allows 25, while Tap App Link Pro and Scale have no creator limit. And Insert Affiliate's Fixed Price option removes the percentage altogether. If you choose Insert Affiliate and expect high affiliate revenue, compare its fixed price at checkout with the revenue-share figures above.
Choose Tap App Link if
- You want one flat price: Free, then US$29 or US$59 a month, with no percentage of your revenue or of what you pay creators.
- You plan to grow past 5 or 25 creators and want unlimited creators from US$29 a month.
- You already know your creators, or can recruit them yourself, and want to invite them by email.
- Your billing runs on RevenueCat, Superwall, Adapty or Qonversion. Tap App Link has a native webhook for each, which matters most if you use Superwall without RevenueCat, or Qonversion.
- You want creator discount codes your paywall can read with
getOffer() (Pro and Scale). - You want to set it up yourself: paste the setup prompt into Cursor, Claude Code or Codex, then watch a test install match in the Sandbox debugger.
Choose Insert Affiliate if
- You want help finding creators. Its marketplace is free on every plan, and Enterprise adds Creator Discovery and 3 hours a month of prospecting help on request.
- You want creator payouts sent for you through Stripe, with self-billing VAT invoices.
- You need tiered or daisy-chain commission rules (Growth and Enterprise).
- You build in Unity or JavaScript, or verify purchases with Apphud or Iaptic.
- You want a tool listed in RevenueCat's Technology Partner directory.
How attribution works on iOS and Android
On Android, Tap App Link reads the Play Install Referrer, which gives a deterministic match. On iOS, it matches the first app open to the creator's link click within 7 days, without IDFA and without an ATT prompt. That iOS match is best-effort: installs on similar devices or the same network at the same time can be missed or credited to the wrong click. On Pro and Scale, a creator's discount code gives a second path, so a customer who types the code is credited to that creator. Full details: How attribution works.
What gets credited
Tap App Link credits a creator's commission on initial purchases, trial conversions and renewals, at the percentage you set for that creator. Purchases arrive through your billing provider's webhook, so you keep RevenueCat, Superwall, Adapty or Qonversion as it is. RevenueCat setup: RevenueCat affiliate program.
Moving from Insert Affiliate
Moving takes some work, and it grows with the number of creators you have. There is no import tool, so here is what changes:
- Billing provider: stays the same. Add a webhook in RevenueCat (or Superwall, Adapty or Qonversion) that points at Tap App Link.
- Your app: ship an app version with the Tap App Link SDK.
- Creators: add each creator again in Tap App Link and invite them by email. Each one gets a new private login.
- Codes: on Pro and Scale you can enter existing codes again. Codes are saved in capitals with symbols removed, so SARAH-10 becomes SARAH10. Tell creators about the new format before they post it.
- Links: each creator gets new go.tapapplink.com links and needs to swap the links in their bios and posts.
- History: past clicks, revenue and commissions stay in Insert Affiliate. Keep the records you need from it before you cancel.
- Existing subscribers: they are credited to a creator only if they enter that creator's code in the new version of your app, and only from that point on.

Frequently asked questions
Do you take a cut of affiliate revenue or creator payouts?
No. You pay a flat monthly plan: Free, Pro at US$29 or Scale at US$59. Tap App Link takes no percentage of your in-app revenue or of what you pay creators. You pay creators directly, and we never handle that money.
Does Tap App Link pay creators for me?
No. Tap App Link calculates each creator's commission and issues a payout invoice after each payout window. You pay creators with the method you already use, then record the payment and proof in Tap App Link.
Is Tap App Link a creator marketplace?
No. You invite creators you already work with by email. Each one gets a private login, a tracked link and, on Pro and Scale, a discount code. If you need help finding creators, use a marketplace alongside Tap App Link.
Does Tap App Link work with RevenueCat?
Yes. Your app calls setAppUserId with the RevenueCat App User ID, and a RevenueCat webhook sends purchases, trial conversions and renewals to Tap App Link. Tap App Link is not listed in RevenueCat's partner directory.
Does Insert Affiliate have a flat-price plan?
Yes. As of October 2026, Insert Affiliate offers a Fixed Price option alongside its Revenue Share plans. Fixed prices are shown in USD and set at checkout, so check its pricing page for the current figures. The affiliate caps of 5, 25 and 100 apply on both options.
How is Insert Affiliate's revenue share calculated?
As of October 2026, Insert Affiliate's revenue share billing docs say the percentage (10% on Starter, 8% on Growth, 7.5% on Enterprise) is charged on the gross transaction price, before Apple, Google or Stripe fees. It applies to initial purchases and every renewal for the life of the subscription, with no upper limit. Its Fixed Price option has no percentage.
Can I import my Insert Affiliate data?
No. There is no import tool. You add creators and codes in Tap App Link, creators get new tracking links, and your past history stays in Insert Affiliate.
Will my creators' existing codes still work?
On Pro and Scale you can enter the same codes again. Tap App Link saves codes in capitals with symbols removed, so SARAH-10 becomes SARAH10. Existing subscribers are credited only if they enter the code in the new version of your app.
How accurate is iOS attribution?
iOS matching is a best-effort score within 7 days, so some installs stay unattributed. We have not published accuracy figures. Test it on your own app in Sandbox with the Live Attribution Debugger before you invite creators.
